A Look Back

images2014 has been a good literary year for several reasons. For one, the NBA saw a diverse showing of female awardees and nominees (hello, Marilyn Robinson, Jacqueline Woodson, and Claudia Rankine!) Lena Dunham made readers uncomfortable (but hilariously so!) and some downright angry at her memoir, Not That Kind of Girl. Another favorite gal, Donna Tartt, saw her latest masterful work Goldfinch win the Pulitzer Prize. Roxane Gay’s breakthrough essay collection, Bad Feminist quickly became a New York Times Bestseller

And for me, I read a lot, wrote a lot, and met Zadie Smith. 2015 will need to work hard to top that.
