This week, I had the privilege of having my first post for Green Philly Blog go live, and also had it picked up by Be Well Philly’s weekly roundup. My CSA farm share began yesterday, reminding me that summer is on its way, and to be thankful that I live in a city where urban farming is prevalent and local food is celebrated. Also, my man showed off his impressive DJing ability at WXPN. Today, I will get to meet a brand new member of the family, a lovely little niece to welcome to the Ebling-clan, and tomorrow will see a picnic in the park with my man. I hope everyone has a happy, safe, and healthy holiday, and finds some time to relax.
(When I lived in England, I had a wonderful group of Spanish friends who introduced me to the wonders of tomates con tostada for breakfast. Enjoy this little treat with a sprinkle of olive oil, salt, pepper, and some dried or fresh basil.)
(Finally cleared out my makeup case, ridding myself of the neon green and blue eyeliner hues I’ve held onto since college. I recently made the switch to chemical-free makeup, and Alima Pure is the best brand I’ve found so far, but every girl needs her red lipstick and liquid eyeliner when she’s feeling flashy, amirite?) (Began Jacqueline Woodson’s Brown Girl Dreaming this week. A gorgeous, poetic tale of Woodson’s upbringing both in the north and the south of a racially-divided United States, it contains the lines: “Everyone else / has gone away. / And now coming back home / isn’t really coming back home / at all.”)
(This little delight, a find at Vagabond in Old City, for $28.)
(Like I mentioned above, Greensgrow’s CSA share began this week. Strawberry rhubarb crumble, anyone?)
(And finally, apple-mint and windowsill sunshine.)
